November days

Outside my window...

COLD Sunshine...but lovely still.

The roads are littered with fallen branches from the windstorm yesterday, but the clean air makes both the Olympics and the Cascades well defined against an icy blue sky.

I am thankful...

For Truth and Light.

So many people live lies and walk in darkness.
It doesn't have to be that way, if they would only know Jesus.

In the kitchen...

White chicken chili soup
and pumpkin pie.

'Tis the season for all things pumpkin!

I am wearing...

and lots of layers.

That's my excuse for looking plump it's not the pumpkin pie, and no it's not all the candy I ate last's the layers.

I am hearing...

The sounds of violins coming through the library wall.
Santos kids are having their lessons next door.

I am going...

To figure out how to get my car out of the garage when the power goes out.

We were stranded yesterday!!

I enjoy being at home anyway...

On my mind...

Our young people.

As a school bus driver I see so many kids from all walks of life.
My heart breaks for them!!

Enticed by tempting empty things, they wander about seeking

Most of them end up wandering around in circles for years.

I want to gather them up, to love them, to show them the ancient paths.
But all I can do is drive them to school, drive them home, smile at them

and PRAY.

Perhaps a door of opportunity might open for me, for them, for us.

I am reading...

Brokenness, the Forgotten Factor of Prayer by Mickey Bonner.

In the evenings the children are reading aloud the Little House series. We are almost done with the second book. Am I the only one that finds it difficult to get the kids off the electronics? Our nightly readings and violin practices help...but where is the LOVE?

Most nights it's, "let's get this over with so I can get back on my Kindle/Phone."

I am hoping...

That all my "old fashioned" ways will become good memories for my kids.

Around the house...

Candles and dust, or is it soot?

Seems I am constantly dusting now that we use the wood stove daily...and vacuuming!

One of my favorite things...

A few plans for the rest of the month:

Thanksgiving Celebration and
Another birthday for me...
more wrinkles, grey, and pains...
and more understanding, joy, and peace.

A picture thought to share...

Not my photo...just a favorite.

  1. I too worry about our youth and I'm not sure what the future is for some of them. It makes me very sad. Whilst we won't stop our modern child from being hooked on electronic device, if you teach them to have blance that's a good thing for later in life.

  2. Thank you Laura for your calming voice of reason in such an unreasonable age. I too hope my children find the ancient path that Jesus walked while He was among us. Hugs to you and all those children! Drive carefully with all that precious cargo! <3

  3. I always love to hear from you,Jo and Susan. Hope you both have a lovely day on opposite ends of the earth!

Thank you for your kind comments. I love visiting with you and I hope you come again.
